Review of      "TALES 2"      by Chris

This second instalment of Robert Boggs' TALES, continuing the format of alternating models' interviews and sexual scenes, is also a summer film, with only two scenes out of 8 shot indoors. With an entirely different cast from the first collection, and many cute new faces, it revisits some favorite locations and themes from the recent past. Whether it is the dramatic hillside with boulders in scene 1 or the hitchhiking motif in scene 4, the viewer is always treated to a new take on a familiar aspect of the director's world. Most remarkable, maybe, the Red Army episode in scene 7, with the three boys dressed up in military uniforms resurrecting a not so distant past which they are too young to really remember (Sergey's Russian origins and the lines he speaks in Russian contribute to the strange power of that very hot scene). As in Tales, all the models are different : Ondrej is hip and trendy and Nikolas more down-to-earth and simple, Jakub is concentrated and cool, Sebastian is strangely shy and Nick very gay, etc...

But like in Tales, they are all lovable and we get this exciting sense of coming closer to who they are. Sebastian's talk about his use of Internet chatrooms looks back to one of the most exciting episodes of BUDDIES 1, and the story about a 25 year old "straight" guy whom he sees from time to time would probably make for a great "tale". But among them all, Dominik Trojan's beauty and sexual appetite are highlighted in three masterful scenes. In his tight sleeveless striped shirt at the beginning, he is the worthy successor of Vaclav Skipála three years ago, and what he does with his car (and with Nikolas Markov) later in the film is unforgettable. A happy smashing film!
